Our preconception medical ensures that you are in optimal health prior to conceiving for the best outcome for you and the baby.
We will discuss your menstrual cycle and fertility history and look for signs of anything that could affect ability to conceive such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or previous pelvic infection. We will discuss nutrition and current health issues that could impact maternal and fetal health. Testing is included for diseases such as diabetes, hypothyroidism and high blood pressure.
We test for all the common infectious diseases that could affect your baby and ensure your levels of important vitamins and thyroid hormones are adequate for maternal and fetal health. Due to the frequency for MTHFR defects we ensure you are taking a parental supplement with methylated B12 and folate that we believe is superior to ones with folic acid.
We will advise you on avoidance of smoking, alcohol and certain prescription drugs that could harm the baby in early pregnancy and may need to be stopped months before conception.
