Purpose of Test

Substances found in the blood made by normal cells that are produced at much higher levels by cancerous conditions. Screens for cancer of the Prostate (PSA total), Pancreatic (Ca19.9), Stomach (Ca72.4), Colon (CEA), Lung (SCC).

Together with family history, smoking and blood pressure, these help to asses the risk of future heart disease. We can thus work out your 10 year risk and take appropriate action.

Cardiac and Alzheimer’s risk factor can be raised with MTHFR defects and low B12 and folate.

Measures levels and ratios of good and bad lipids

Screens for signs of inflammation in the coronary blood vessels.

This excludes diabetes and shows risk of developing diabetes in the future. It detects insulin resistance where the muscle, fat, liver cells do not respond properly to insulin and thus cannot easily adsorb glucose from the blood stream. Over time this leads to a rise of blood glucose and weight gain if left unchecked.

 

This screens for infection, anaemia, iron and vitamin B deficiency and bone marrow disorder.
