Purpose of Test

Substances found in the blood made by normal cells that are produced at much higher levels by cancerous conditions. Included are: Breast (Ca15.3), Ovarian (Ca 125).

Checks for risks and signs of cervical cancer. 

Together with family history, smoking and blood pressure, these help to asses the risk of future heart disease. We can thus work out your 10year risk and take appropriate action.

Cardiac and Alzheimers risk factor can be raised with MTHFR defects and low B12 and folate.

Measures levels and ratios of good and bad lipids

These exclude diabetes and show risk of developing diabetes in the future. It detects insulin resistance where the muscle, fat, liver cells do not respond properly to insulin and thus cannot easily absorb glucose from the blood stream. Over time this leads to a rise of blood glucose and weight gain if left unchecked.
